Annabel Werbrouck, Journal d’une femme à Berlin
Annabel Werbrouck is Belgian; she has been living and working in Berlin for 5 years.
After completing her studies in Geography at the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles), she joined the Agnès Varda School of Photography to study photography.
Initially, much of his work focused on social photography.
It was following a landmark event in her life five years ago that she turned to a more intimate and personal photography.
It started with her « One Morning » series, with photos taken just after her mother’s death. When she returned to the old house of her childhood, the rooms emptied of their contents contained so many memories and emotions that she wanted to capture and preserve this moment, to keep traces…
Through combinations of self-portraits and still lifes, the idea is to give this work a « universal reach » – in which everyone can identify themselves, tell their own story…
Photography takes the form of a sort of exit.
The series presented here is entitled « Journal of a woman in Berlin« .
It is a series of « autofiction », centred on self-portrait, everyday life with its joys and sufferings. A woman’s life around the mourning of a mother, adapting to a new city (Berlin), the couple…
